Barcelona confirm Camp Nou renaming to include new sponsor Spotify
Barcelona are to rename their stadium ‘Spotify Camp Nou’ as part of their partnership with the streaming giant, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
The partnership also includes naming rights to the front of men’s and women’s team shirts and training shirts starting in the 2022-23 season.
The Blaugrana have been playing at Camp Nou since 1957, this is the ground’s first name change.
What was said?
“Spotify will use this partnership to shine the spotlight on artists around the world,” the company wrote in a statement.
“It will bring the worlds of music and football together, giving Spotify Camp Nou players and artists a global stage.
“The partnership plans are subject to ratification by the Barcelona Members’ Assembly, which will take place in early April.”
However, Barcelona have already confirmed the stadium’s renaming on their own website.
“The strategic collaboration, for which Spotify will become the club’s main partner from the 2022-23 season, foresees a long-term agreement for the ‘Title Rights’ of the stadium which will start in July 2022 and will continue with the ambitious renovation of the Camp Nou, as part of Espai Barca,” the club wrote.
“This project will transform the facilities and surroundings of the stadium into a new world-class entertainment experience open to the city of Barcelona.”
