Bob Bondurant’s family may again use his name; plans to open a new racing school
CHANDLER, AZ – Legendary Racing Driver Bob BondurantHis name is no longer on the school he founded over 50 years ago and moved to Chandler in 1990, but he and his family are looking to open a new high-performance driving school bearing his name.
In March, the owners of the Bondurant High Performance Driving School announced that it was change your name and brand image at the Radford Racing School. The change came after nearly two years of litigation between the school’s owners and the Bondurant family.
School filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in fall 2018 and early 2019 it was bought out in bankruptcy for $ 1.675 million by Stig Investments Inc. The use of the name was questioned on the day of the sale in March 2019 and the family argued they should be in control. The two sides eventually came to an agreement that forced the school to change its name, Pat BondurantBob’s wife and former Bondurant School co-owner told the Business Journal.
“Everyone forgot Bob Bondurant is the world champion. And he got harder hits than before, ” Pat Bondurant mentionned. “He just gave me directions. He said, “Honey, you have to protect our name. No one can come and steal your name. I don’t care how much money you have. You can’t do that in this world. ‘And so I did it, I fought like a badger and we got our name back.
