Deanna Wong’s mother warns fans against scammers taking advantage of her daughter’s name
CEBU, Philippines — Judin Alvizo-Wong, mother of Cebuana volleyball star Deanna Wong, is warning her daughter’s supporters and fans about scammers using Deanna’s name to get money.
Judin, in a Facebook post, said that some “people from different support organizations or fan clubs” scammed some of Deanna’s supporters into thinking they were close to Deanna or her family.
“We have learned that some people have been scammed into disbursing money by some people from different support organizations / fan clubs or people claiming to be close to Deanna or our family, hoping for an exchange of money. ‘a fan nod or video greeting from Deanna Wong,’ she said in the post.
Judin urged Deanna followers and fans to be careful and steer clear of these “scammers”.
“Please be careful when giving money to anyone who solicits for the purpose of giving it to Deanna to buy gifts, or even different types of merchandise like mugs, t-shirts or anything. either with Deanna on it. We have not authorized anyone to produce mugs, t-shirts, keychains, etc. The only legit t-shirt with Deanna is with GetBlued which you can buy through Shopee or Lazada and soon in our Sachi store here in Minglanilla, Cebu,” she added.
Deanna recently went viral after her fans flocked outside their Minganilla home on Friday April 15, waiting to catch a glimpse of the Ateneo star.
The 24-year-old was part of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Lady Jaguars during her high school days before joining the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles.
