Everton man not a ‘priority name’ for the club – Belief he would block youth progress
James Rodriguez is not a ‘priority name’ for Porto in that window, with the club not seeing him as a necessary signing at the moment.
This is according to Record, which says the Colombian is not a player of particular interest to the Portuguese team.
Reports on Thursday and Friday claimed that Everton had opened negotiations with Porto for Luis Diaz and that a deal could be reached, although the Portuguese press did not confirm this today.
They say Everton needs to increase his bid for the forward and convince Porto to sell, while the inclusion of Rodriguez is not a big selling point.
It has been claimed that Porto boss Sérgio Conceição is not a big fan of the former club star or has not brought him in, and Record is talking a bit about it today.

They say that although Rodriguez has stated on Twitch on several occasions that he would like to return to Porto, he is not a ‘priority name’ for the club or the coaching staff of Conceição.
They would prefer Luis Diaz to stay at the club, with them seeing him as a ‘corner stone’ for their goals this season.
Plus, while they believe in Rodriguez’s quality, they think he would actually be a “buffer” for many of the youngsters on the squad who play in his position.
Those two factors, and the paper doesn’t even mention how badly Rodriguez would be out of place under a fire and brimstone manager like Conceição, mean Porto aren’t that enthusiastic.
Of course, opinions can always be changed, and that’s surely something Marcel Brands is working on right now, so it’s nothing final.
However, from reports today and now, it looks like Everton has some work to do to convince Porto to sell Diaz and take Rodriguez at the same time.
