FmPro Migrator 9.37 Update Adds New MySQL to FileMaker Pro Migration Feature and More
.com Solutions Inc. announces the release of FmPro Migrator 9.37 with MySQL to FileMaker Pro and improvements to Microsoft Access and Visual FoxPro conversions.
FREMONT, CA, USA, September 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – .com Solutions Inc. announces the addition of a new MySQL to FileMaker Pro conversion feature in FmPro Migrator.
MySQL is one of the most used database platforms today. FileMaker Pro is widely recognized as the premier platform for low-code database development. FmPro Migrator brings these two database platforms together by providing bidirectional schema and data transfers between them. FileMaker Pro developers can help businesses avoid IT planning bottlenecks by moving SQL database applications to FileMaker Pro solutions.
FmPro Migrator uses an automated 3-step process to migrate MySQL tables and data to a local copy of FileMaker Pro running on your desktop. Once complete, the FileMaker Pro Database is ready to serve as a starting point for building or enhancing FileMaker Pro solutions.
Using the previously online FileMaker Pro development platform, only MySQL databases can now be used in offline desktop and mobile applications. FileMaker Pro solutions running on desktop and mobile platforms allow users to modify data locally and synchronize it with the server after the Internet connection is restored.
FileMaker Pro solutions deployed to macOS, Windows, IOS, or Android devices using LiveCode for FM include built-in support for offline synchronization with FileMaker Server using the Data API.
FmPro Migrator connects to MySQL and FileMaker databases using UTF-8 encoding to ensure that all characters are transferred accurately between databases. Other data transfer methods may not retain all character encodings. FmPro Migrator saves money and reduces errors by avoiding manual large data entry.
FmPro Migrator 9.37 also includes the following enhancements:
* Visual FoxPro and other data conversions
The 32-bit and 64-bit Perl xferData.EXE compiled applications have been updated to include additional dll libraries to ensure that errors do not occur if Perl is not installed on the computer when xferData.EXE is used. This utility is used with all Visual FoxPro conversions and also other data transfers when you hold down the Shift key.
* VB6 conversion to LiveCode
Fixed some issues encountered while converting fonts and colors from VB6 to LiveCode.
* Access to FileMaker conversion
Updated the AccessDDRExport utility to version 33 to correct error # 53.
* Consolidation of tables
Enhanced Relationship_Error_Report.txt with a SQLite delete command, to make it easier to delete bad relationships and allow the automated relationship building process to continue.
Fixed an issue where the FmPro Migrator AppleScript Code.zip file was not created correctly when selecting menu File -> Export AppleScript or WinAutomation Scripts.
* SQL Server to FileMaker
Fixed an issue with SQL Server to FileMaker conversions where the error text Invalid Column Name Ctable_name … was displayed when collecting metadata from SQL Server.
Fixed an issue with the data transfer step from SQL Server to FileMaker where the “Data Collection” dialog box would appear without data transfer. These data transfers now use the xferDataPerl.EXE / App in all situations.
Fixed an issue with SQL Server to FileMaker conversions where the FileMaker connection information was incorrect because it used SQL Server connection information.
* LiveCode conversion
Fixed an issue with the saveRecordsAsPDF handler in which some local variables were not declared (addition: tFoundSetFlag, tCurrentRecordPosition). This issue will only display an error if the variable checking feature is enabled in the LiveCode IDE – this is the recommended setting to help detect typos.
* General GUI
Cosmetic improvement of the position of the right edge of the controls displayed in the different tabs of the Migration process window
Fixed an issue with the FileMaker Pro Networking application causing the FmPro Migrator error that 2 or more copies of FileMaker are running when performing AppleScript-based GUI automation tasks on macOS . These processes can appear as: fmscwpc or node app.js in the list of processes.
* FmPro Migrator batch transfer
Updated the manual with information about 64-bit support now available.
* FileMaker to access the conversion
Replace the Access2013.accdc file with a zipped copy of Access2016.accdb to avoid security errors when opening the file.
Added dialog to Export Images to SQL Database feature and PDF manual recommending the use of Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant to manage image transfer to Access databases from FileMaker Pro.
Updated the PDF manual to specify the use of the UTF-8 encoding option when configuring the advanced language options of the FileMaker ODBC driver. Since Access databases always use the xferDataPerl.EXE data transfer method – generated Perl scripts always use SQL_WVARCHAR instead of SQL_VARCHAR to ensure that Unicode data is transferred correctly.
Price and availability:
For a limited time, as part of the introduction of the MySQL feature to FmPro, FmPro Migrator (including Developer Edition and Platinum Edition features) is available at a 50% discount ($ 49.50) and is available immediately .
