ENVIRONMENT: The coding talents of a self-employed senior developer capable of taking ownership of all projects assigned during the development, testing and maintenance phases are sought by a fast-paced FinTech company to join their team in their business unit. Cap or Joburg. Your primary role will be to write exceptional quality, testable and actionable code that aligns with business requirements. You will also be expected to conduct code reviews, participate in pair programming, support continuous improvement by researching innovative technological alternatives and options, and present your recommendations for architectural review. You must have a 12th grade / matrix, accredited and relevant diploma / diploma or certification focused on software development, 6+ years of development experience in a high volume environment, strong SQL skills, ORM technologies , relational databases, Git, Mercurial, CVS, Subversion, TFS, Test-Driven Development & exposure to graphical databases. You should also be familiar with CI tools, object-oriented analysis and design, and be able to build cloud-based applications in [URL Removed]

  • Write well-designed, testable, and functional code based on business needs.
  • Make sure the code is scalable and meets security standards.
  • Deployable in the infrastructure provided for the release.
  • Engage in source control in a working state with all up-to-date dependencies.

Quality assurance

  • Make sure the code works and is signed by the customer.
  • Make sure all code reviews are successful.
  • Make sure all tests are working.

Technical analysis –

  • Be involved in the planning, design and development of the identified systems and platforms, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Responsible for supporting continuous improvement by researching alternatives and technologies and presenting them for an architectural review.

Documentation –

  • Help with relevant documentation as needed.

Participation in the SCRUM team

  • Actively participate in stand-up retrospectives, sprint planning, etc.
  • Work with the team to achieve the sprint goal.
  • Participate in pair programming.

Responsibilities on demand –

  • Due to the fluid and dynamic environment, new, additional or changed job responsibilities will occur. The successful demonstration of the change orientation is an ongoing responsibility in all positions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matrix / Grade 12.
  • Any relevant accredited computer science degree, diploma or certification related to software development.
  • At least 6 years of development experience in a high volume environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies.
  • Knowledge of source control such as Git, Mercurial, CVS, Subversion, TFS.
  • Good understanding of SDLC.
  • Develop, test and maintain high quality application software.
  • Experience in test-driven development.
  • Exposure to graphic databases.
  • Message queues.
  • Agile techniques, DoD, Scrum, Kanban, Standup, Sprints, Retrospectives etc.
  • Previous experience in a FinTech or Payments environment.
  • Object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
  • CI tools.
  • Build highly scalable cloud applications in AWS.
  • Acquisition of the architecture and implementation of new technologies.
