Trip.com has expanded its offerings to leverage evolving consumer climate awareness and corporate action.

Singapore – Trip.com launches its integrated carbon solution to allow Trip.com users around the world to manage the CO2 emissions of their travels.

The global travel platform has partnered with a climate tech company CHOOSE to offer travelers the possibility to calculate and offset the CO2 emissions of their flight by supporting effective climate solutions worldwide.

Customers booking on Trip.com will now have the option to address their flight’s CO2 emissions during the booking trip. For a low cost, Traveler Offsets will support projects that reduce, capture or avoid CO2 emissions by an amount equivalent to the calculated emissions of the flight.

The CHOOOSE solution is directly integrated into the Trip.com platform, allowing customers to seamlessly manage their CO2 emissions as part of the customer experience.

Joan Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group, said:As part of our mission to lead the global transformation towards modern and more eco-friendly travel, we have partnered with CHOOOSE to contribute to highly effective CO2 emissions mitigation projects.

around the world. This makes it easier and simpler for Trip.com users to offset their flight’s CO2 emissions when paying on our platform and to travel more responsibly.

Andreas SlettvollCEO of CHOOOSE, said: “We are seeing growing demand from individuals and businesses around the world to understand the CO2 emissions from their travels and solve those emissions through solutions such as carbon removal, offsets and fuel. sustainable aviation. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Trip.com to offer integrated climate options as part of their booking process, making climate action more accessible to people around the world.”

Trip.com and CHOOOSE calculate CO2 emissions based on factors such as a flight’s distance, capacity, and flight time, in accordance with the latest industry guidelines. This calculation helps inform the cost to offset travel, as well as guide routes that can produce the least CO2 per passenger.

Trip.com and CHOOOSE have selected a range of high-impact CO2 mitigation projects around the world that reduce, remove or avoid CO2 emissions. Projects are carefully vetted by carbon professionals and certified to the most comprehensive standards such as the Gold Standard, a leading international carbon protocol. This ensures that projects create the highest possible carbon impact and real benefit for local communities, so travelers know their contributions are making a difference.

The introduction of this new carbon solution aligns with the aim of the Trip.com Group, the parent company of Trip.com, to encourage travelers to consider the environmental impact of travel and to offer users from Trip.com options to travel more responsibly.
