PARIS, March 17 (Reuters) – CME Group said on Wednesday it would list Ukrainian wheat futures and options next month in partnership with pricing agency Platts, expanding its footprint in the main exporting region of Black Sea grain to a third contract.
The derivatives, which will launch on its electronic platform Globex, will come into effect on Sunday April 11 to be traded on Monday April 12, pending regulatory approval, the market operator said in a notice. sent by email.
CME, which operates the Chicago Board of Trade, and Platts already offer cash-settled futures contracts for Russian wheat and Ukrainian corn, the main grain exports in the Black Sea region.
The announcement of their Ukrainian wheat contract comes two months after Euronext announced it was developing cash-settled futures contracts for Ukrainian wheat with commodity pricing agency Argus Media.
CME’s wheat contract will also be settled in cash and will be based on the daily assessment of the FOB (free on board) price of 11.5% Ukrainian wheat from Platts, CME said in another notice posted on its website. .
