Why Israelis don’t care about Facebook’s new name
Social media users in Israel scoffed at the company’s change of name from Facebook to Meta because the new name resembles the Hebrew word for “dead.” A message said “Someone hasn’t done their #branding research.” Dr Nirit Weiss-Blatt, author of The Techlash and Technological crisis communication, tweeted: “In Hebrew, * Meta * means * Death * The Jewish community will ridicule this name for years.”
Boxed Christmas Dinner Launched Today
Heinz launched a “Christmas dinner in a box”. The soup contains “big chunks” of turkey, covered pigs, Brussels sprouts, stuffing balls and potatoes, with a cranberry gravy. The company only produced 500 cans of its Big Christmas Soup, which are available from today on its website, but hinted that it could roll out more next year if it encountered a success with buyers.
Cuban zoo animals have mated more during pandemic
Cuban National Zoo zookeepers say several exotic and endangered animal species have enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Covid pandemic so much that they have produced a bumper crop of baby animals. Zoo vets say the increase in the number of hatchlings of leopards, Bengal tigers, zebras, giraffes, antelopes and oxen has happened because the zoo was closed during the pandemic.
