Wilson graduate Justin Weller puts his name on transfer portal
Wilson product Justin Weller placed his name on the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, hoping to end his college football career next fall after spending five years at Penn State.
“Thanks to everyone at Penn State,” Weller wrote on social media. “The past five years have been unforgettable. With one year of eligibility remaining, I decided to enter the transfer portal.
Weller, 6-0 and 198 pounds, a wide receiver, has played 11 games this season without making a catch. He’s played one game in each of the past three seasons (2018-20) and made his only career reception, for 10 yards, against Idaho in the 2019 Penn State opener.
He received two awards last month at Penn State’s annual football banquet.
He was named one of two outstanding extras, introduced to a non-scholarship player who exemplifies total commitment, loyalty, hard work and courage. He also received the Nittany Lion Club Academic Achievement Award, given to the senior with the highest cumulative grade point average.
Weller graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in three years, followed by a master’s degree in real estate and is in the process of obtaining a second master’s degree in corporate finance.
Four-time All-Big Ten academic selection, he had a cumulative GPA of 3.78 after spring 2021.
Weller was with the All-Berks in his only season at Wilson in 2016, when he caught 43 passes for 543 yards and 10 touchdowns. He spent his first three years of high school in Illinois.
